It continues to be a good winter for Algonquin sports – though only one sport can boast perfect records.
T-Hawks Swim and Diving Teams are continuing to reign supreme this season. The teams are 9-0 as of last night’s wins over Westborough. (You can read a bit about them in the Telegram here.)
Westborough Basketball also lost out to both Boys and Girls Basketball when they played at ARHS on Friday.
Gonk Boys Basketball is on a five game winning streak with a 8-2 record. The Girls’ season has been a losing one with a 2-7 record. But we can hope Friday was the start of their streak. (Click here to read the Telegram’s coverage of the Boys’ game.)
Girls Gymnastics broke its streak when it took on MADS – the three high school team (Medfield, Ashland, and Dover Sherborne). ARHS lost 142 to 139.2. But it’s still able to boast a winning season. The Girls bested Hudson High earlier in the week.
Indoor Track teams have been making the school proud. A coach’s tweets boast the teams had 3-1 records as of last week and some great performance at Division 2 State Relays over the weekend:
- Finishing in 3rd place – Boys High Jump team (Alex Lemieux, Brett Kush, and Steven Moffa)
- Finishing events in 4th place – Boys Long Jump team, Boys 4x200m relay team, Girls Distance Medley team (with a school record time), Boys 4x400m relay team
- Finishing events in 5th place Boys Shuttle Hurdle relay team, and Girls Shuttle Dash team

Gonk Hockey Boys and Girls can still boast a winning season. But where both teams started the season strong, they have been less steady as of late.
Last week, I reported that the Boys winning streak was over but with two ties they were still undefeated. That’s now changed with a 1-0 loss to Wayland on Wednesday. They got back on track with a 5-2 win over Westfield on Saturday. (You can read about Senior Captain Nolan Ross’ hat trick in Milford Daily News here.)
The Girls added a third straight win to their record last week, but followed it with a 7-1 loss to Shrewsbury on Saturday. (You can read about that here in the Telegram.) That still leaves them with a 7-3 record.
Continuing an uneven season, Algonquin Wrestling added another win and loss at meets last week. Sadly, that was followed by three losses at the Quad meet it hosted on Saturday against Framinghham, Franklin, and West Springfield.
