Algonquin’s Swim and Dive Teams continued to power ahead undefeated last week. The Boys and Girls beat Wachusett in their 11th meets of the season on Friday.
The Girls Alpine Ski Team is also in fine form, undefeated after 3 races. The Boys are in 5th place.
On Saturday, Boys and Girls Indoor Track racked up more medals at the East Coast Invitational in Providence. Coach Ken Morin tweets included the following accomplishments:
- 1st place (and indoor school records) – John Bai for the pole vault and Matt Madamba for the 400m dash
- 2nd place – Jon Symons for the 2 Mile
- 3rd place – Tess Reyes for the mile, RaiAnn Bu for the Pole Vault, Day Ruffo (with a new indoor school record) for the 200m dash, and the 4x400m relay team of Tess Reyes, Anna Long, Gabby Clune, and Olivia Kardos
- 4th place – 4x200m Relay team of Alex Lemieux, Luke Aspero, Tommy Stimson, and Matt Madamba
- In 5th and 6th place for the High Jump – Alex Lemieux and Brett Kush
But the T-Hawks win that triggered the most headlines this week was a regular season Basketball game vs Catholic Memorial. Southborough Wicked Local wrote:
This one turned into the Alex Karaban show as the freshman had 36 points and 20 rebounds while senior Nick Redden added 23 points and 11 rebounds, allowing the Tomahawks to cruise to a 77-64 victory, avenging their loss from earlier this season to Catholic Memorial.
The Boys’ triumph over a Boston team was also covered by the Herald and the Globe.
ARHS Gymnastics is back in form with a win over Marlborough yesterday and the top score at Saturday’s Quad Meet over Marlborough, Shrewsbury, and Groton-Dunstable.
But it hasn’t been a great week for all of Gonk’s sports.
Wrestling’s tri-meet on Saturday resulted in a 45-33 win over Hopkinton followed by a 24-52 loss to Mt. Hope and 42-21 to Milford.
Both Boys and Girls Hockey added another loss to their records. Boys Hockey was defeated by Lincoln Sudbury 5-1 yesterday. (You can read the Telegram’s coverage here.) That puts their record at 7-2-2. And Girls Hockey’s 4-2 loss to Longmeadow puts them at 7-4-0.
Now, here are the ARHS varsity games on tap for the week.
