In yesterday’s post on Summer Reading fun at the Southborough Library, I promised to post about upcoming Crafternoons.
The Library is hosting more craft sessions for older kids led by popular crafter Mandy Roberge.* For each program registration is required with space limited to 15 participants.
This week’s program is already full with a waitlist. But three more are scheduled for later this summer, sponsored by The Friends of the Southborough Library. The programs are mainly for teens, but the first one is also fine for tweens.
The following Crafternoons will be held on three consecutive Wednesday afternoons in August, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm:
- Alien Cookie Decorating – August 7
Patrons will use a variety of techniques from royal icing, butterceam frosting and fondant to copy some templates, and of course accessorize with candy! Limited to 15 participants. For ages 10+. Click here to register. - Sewing 101 – August 14
This workshop focuses on learning the basics of sewing (threading a needle, starting and stopping a stitch, and fixing a button) and then invites participants to work on one hand-sewing project and one machine project (i.e. a scrunchie). Limited to 15 participants. Recommended for Ages 13 & Up. Click here to register. - Planet Pendants – August 21
This program invites patrons to create a planet pendant using wires and pliers, and then create a unique strand on which to hang it, using leather cording, beads and wire, or macrame techniques. This one is recommended for Ages 13 & Up but also notes that it’s most appropriate for adults or parent working with a child . Click here to register.
You can also sign up at the Library or by calling 508-485-5031.
*Roberge’s company is Wicked Good Henna. Fans of hers may want to note that the Library is also holding one of her Henna events for ages 8+, outside of the Library (weather permitting) on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. That event doesn’t require registration.
