Celebrating Halloween in Southborough

Since Southborough tends to let Halloween rule when trick or treating happens (and there’s been no announcement otherwise), get ready for kids at your door tomorrow night.

The forecast rain may have you a bit down. But it shouldn’t dampen spirits at Southborough public schools tomorrow. Here’s how students will be celebrating.

As usual, the biggest celebration is at the school for the youngest students.

Finn School will hold its annual costume parades tomorrow – even if rain forces the festivities indoor. Most of the pre-K to first grade students will march at 1:30 pm. Students will then return to class (unless parents sign them out for early dismissal.) The school will also hold a special morning parade for the morning-only pre-K students at 10:30 am.

Woodward School is encouraging students to come out in their PJs or wear black and orange. The 2nd and 3rd grade students will enjoy an assembly with songs, participate in a themed reader’s theater and hear from Southborough Police Officer Kevin Landry about Halloween safety.

Neary School will ask the 4th and 5th graders to show their spirit by wearing orange and black or “Halloween-themed clothing”. Spooky t-shirts, pumpkin t-shirts and headbands are acceptable examples. (Costumes aren’t allowed.)

Trottier Middle School is allowing costumes – but with caveats:

They must adhere to the Trottier dress code. No masks or face paint are permitted. Hats may only be worn if they are part of a costume and are not overly distracting.
