The Northborough-Southborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council will host a talk on special education in the school district next Tuesday. It’s free and open to the public. Here are the details.

Location: Algonquin Regional High School, Rm. H221 (enter through the upper school doors)Presenters include Barbara Goodman, Director of Student Support Services, and Arlene Shainker, Assistant Director of Student Support Services. Superintendent Charles Gobron, Assistant Superintendent Ewa Pytowska, and school committee members will also attend.
Some of the topics to be covered include:
- Best practices in specialized instruction — a continuum of service in the districts
- Students’ rights — 504 accommodations and IEPs
- Overview of special education processes, including building based support teams, referral processes, and systems for supporting at-risk students
- Allocation of resources for special education — stimulus funds
