Southborough couldn’t hold it’s usual community observances for Memorial Day. But residents and officials did find ways to mark the occasion. Here are photo highlights from the parade and ceremony.
Memorial Day Ceremony
A small contingent of veterans and officials met up at the American Legion headquarters and marched to the All Wars Memorial yesterday morning.
Speeches were recorded by Southborough Access Media. So stay tuned for a video. In the meantime, SAM shared some photos on Facebook and the Town tweeted photos by Dan Kolenda:
Outside of the ceremony, the All Wars Memorial was open as always for the public to stop in and take a moment to remember Southborough veterans. The memorial highlights the names of those who made the “Supreme Sacrifice”.
Car Parade for seniors and veterans
Leading into the long weekend, the Southborough Senior Center’s Dull Men’s Club led a vehicle parade through Town. The event was meant to both pay tribute to the holiday and to bring joy to seniors throughout town.
From comments, I’ve received and heard, it wasn’t just seniors who smiled at Friday morning’s procession.
Below is a tweet from the Town sharing a video of 25 vehicles leaving the Senior Center. (If you can’t view that, click here.)
Thx Leslie Chamberlin for sharing this great video of the Dull Men’s car parade today. This group of retired Southborough citizens are civic, generous & loyal to the core. We miss their pool playing coffee klatch at the Sr center during #Covid_19! #quaranteam #dullmenbrigade pic.twitter.com/EGsuOhu9vH

For a better look at some of the vehicles, below are photos posted of some by the Senior Center on Facebook:
For a better look at some of the people involved, Al Bezanson captured pics organizers getting ready.
Southborough Access Media also posted from the parking lot, indicating that we can look for a SAM video in the future:
