Jane C. (McNamara) Wood, 85, of Southborough, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 after a very short illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Philip J. Wood.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose J. and Winifred T. (Murray) McNamara.
Jane was raised in Neponset and was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Brighton. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in teaching at State Teachers College of Boston.
Jane was an active member of St. Anne Church, in Southborough, where she served on numerous committees, as well as continued to teach CCD. She remained active through her entire life and enjoyed traveling to the Cape, and Florida. She was a champion Scrabble player, enjoyed playing cards with her friends, and loved to plan and participate in all of life’s celebrations. Anyone who met or knew Jane was struck by her energy, generosity and kindness. But by far, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Jane is survived by her children, Suzanne Wood of Brooklyn, NY; Jennifer Wood of Falmouth; Philip J. Wood, Jr. and his wife Janet of Wrentham; Brian Wood and his wife Jodi of Natick; Stephanie Velvin and her husband Chad of Bracey, VA; and Jonathan Wood of Framingham, as well as and her sisters, Mary Dever of Hingham; and Sonia Keegan of Falmouth;. She was the proud grandmother of Megan Dinnerstein, Jason and Eric Wood; Rachel and Lindsay Wood and Kurt Velvin. She also is survived by a large extended family and several dear friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 30, from 4 to 7pm at Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough. Please note all pandemic rules will be followed.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 31, at 10:30 am at St. Anne Church, 20 Boston Road, Southborough. Burial will follow in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
