Yesterday was the first weekday storm of the year, and things were sloppy around town, but Fire Chief John Mauro Jr. said it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
Mauro said heavy wet snow brought down a number of tree limbs — mostly pine limbs — early in the storm. There were scattered power outages due to downed and arcing wires. There was also a vehicle crash on the Mass Turnpike, but no injuries were reported.
Here’s a rundown of the day’s events:
- 10:08 am Tree across three 13,800 volt lines, Clifford Road
- 12:08 pm Motor vehicle crash, Mass Turnpike mile marker 109
- 12:10 pm Arcing wires, Northborough Road
- 1:23 pm Wire down, Main Street
- 1:46 pm Fire alarm, Wildwood Drive
