Obituary: James M. Dunlap, 58

James M. Dunlap of Gilford NH, formerly of Southborough passed away Sunday June 27 at the age of 58. Born in Brighton to the late Frederick E. and Phyllis (LaTronica) Dunlap, James was a graduate of Newton North High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology. For more than 30 years he worked as a central office technician for Verizon.

Beloved husband of the late Joan (Hayes) he is survived by his daughter Jennifer Dunlap of Gilford, NH. Dear brother of Frederick E. Dunlap Jr. of Wellesley and the late Christine Dunlap., he was the loving uncle to Gregory and Rachel McKenna, their children Oscar and Ivan of PA and Kate McKenna-Eads and Geoff Eads, their children Greta and Elsa of Andover. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Jim was an avid New England sports team fan. He loved his beaches in Florida and New Hampshire with their warm weather. He spent his retirement boating, helicopter parenting his daughter, and picking oranges from orange groves. 

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 1 at 1:30PM in the Chapel at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St. Newton followed by interment in Newton Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held immediately prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 in the Chapel.

The family strongly encourages that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at PanCan.org

🙏 My sincere sympathy and heartfelt prayers go out to Miss Dunlap. Incurable cancer has touched this young person’s life far too many times. May God bless and protect her though this hardship and throughout her life.
