Flags in Southborough and across the nation will flying at half staff sunrise to sunset on Saturday, September 11, 2021 in “in observance of Patriot Day, in honor of the individuals who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and the Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that followed”.
As I have previously shared, a brief 9/11 ceremony will be held by Southborough Fire and Police at their memorial in front of the Public Safety Building. The public is welcome to attend. It will take place at 9:55 am.
On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, flags in Massachusetts will again be lowered to half staff (sunrise to sunset). That order from Governor Baker is in honor of in honor of US Marine Corps Sergeant Johanny Rosario Pichardo, of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Sgt Pichardo was fatally wounded in the terrorist attack on the Kabul airport on August 26th in Afghanistan.
