This week, I wrote about the Cub Scouts’ annual fundraiser selling Hanukkah candles and Christmas wreaths. They aren’t the only group already eager to talk wreaths.
The Southborough Gardeners are preparing to spruce up the Town for the holidays again. Decorating Southborough’s municipal buildings and landmarks with holiday wreaths is an annual effort for the group. They’re putting out a call for donations to help fund the program. According to a representative, those beautification costs have gone up.
I know that thinking about Christmas/holiday decorations now can feel like rushing the holidays. But these efforts take volunteers time to organize.
Here is the the Gardeners’ call for support:
The Southborough Gardeners are once again preparing to decorate the town with 100 fresh evergreen wreaths. It is a cheerful reminder to town residents and commuters that pass your establishments each day that the holidays are fast approaching.
The Gardeners do this as a free community service to beautify our town in keeping with our nonprofit charter. We use the funds that are raised by our volunteer gardeners and donated by generous contributors such as yourself to offset the cost of the wreaths and decorative bows. We would greatly appreciate it if you could make a donation in an amount of your choice to help offset the costs of the wreaths.

Traditional locations that the Gardeners decorate included Town buildings and businesses on Main Street, the Veterans’ Monument, the Senior Center, Cemetery, Cultural Arts Center, Police and Fire stations, and the Library. They also hang them on businesses that help support the program through their donations.
