Rec offerings this winter include skating, basketball, coding & E-Sports, and RAP sessions like Chess.
Southborough Recreation is promoting registration for classes, programs, and leagues that kick off in January. Some of these may even make a great gift for a family member for the holidays!
Below are details on offerings that cover kids through adults.
Ice Skating Lessons
All Ages 4+
Wednesdays (5:10 – 6:00 pm) or Saturdays (11:00 – 11:50 am)
Southborough Recreation is partnering with The Center Skating Academy at the New England Sports Center located 121 Donald Lynch Blvd, Marlborough, MA 01752. The Center Skating Academy will be offering 2 sessions, 8 weeks each for anyone who is interested in learning to skate or who wants to improve their skating skills.
No rentals, must own skates, beginners are required to wear a helmet.
$210 for 8 classes beginning January 5th/8th (click here to register)
Adult Basketball League
Ages 18+
Pickup games Sundays (6:30 – 8:30 pm at Fay School) and Tuesdays (7:00 – 9:00 pm at Finn School)
Southborough Recreation invites you to join our adult pickup basketball league from 1/2 to 3/13 on Sundays and Tuesdays.
Newcomers are ALWAYS welcome. Attendance need not be regular! This is a pick up league – we call our own fouls and keep our own score.
Everyone in the gym must wear a mask regardless of vaccination status per Fay and Southborough Public Schools policy. If you do not comply, you will be asked to leave.

Code Ninja’s Roblox Developer
Ages 8 – 13
Saturdays (9:00 – 10:00 am)
In this hands-on, fully guided camp experience, ninjas learn the basics of game building and creative development in an exciting, user-generated online gaming platform called Roblox! This camp will teach ninjas how to plan, design, and build their own 3D world to create much more than just a game

RAP Session 3
Grades K-8
Varying weekdays, immediately after school
Recreation After School Programs kick off the first week that school returns from break. So, signup now! Offerings still showing as available this morning are:
- Finn School: Broadway Fundamentals – Jr Theater Club and Slime Imposter
- Woodward School: Chess Wizards, Winter Baking, and Slime Imposter
- Neary School: Sewing, RECO Robot, and Musical Parody Program
- Trottier Middle School: Apex Bowling
Costs vary. Session runs from January 3rd – February 7th. (Days are on flyer above right – which also includes classes no longer being offered)
E-Sports Winter Season
Ages 8 to Adult
Weekday evenings – Schedules vary by game and age group
Southborough Rec has a “Club” to participate in the GG Leagues’ Central League E-Sports competitions. Purchasing a season pass allows registering to compete in as many of the below options as you want to – though some require specific gaming platforms as noted:
- Fortnite (age groups: 13-18 or 18+) – 1v1 on Tuesdays and 2v2 on Fridays
- Rocket League (age groups: 8-12, 13-18, 18+) 1v1 and 3v3 (beginner and/or advanced) on Wednesdays
- Madden 21 (requires Playstation 4 or Xbox One) (age groups: 8-12, 13-18, 18+) 1v1 on Mondays
- MarioKart Deluxe (requires Nintendo Switch) (age groups: 8-12, 13-18, 18+) 1v1 on Mondays
- Super Smash Bros (requires Nintendo Switch) (age groups: 8-12, 13-18, 18+) 1v1 on Thursdays

Yoga
Ages 12+ to Adult
Thursdays (5:30 – 6:30 pm over zoom)
Stretch, de-stress and relax your mind with yoga. This “after-work” at-home class is open to all levels of experience and ability. Yoga sessions include breadth work, posture sequences to build strength and cultivate balance and concentration. Class ends with guided relaxation. Led by seasoned Kripalu certified instructors Malu Doherty and Mary Starr Green.
Note: Mary and Malu will alternate leading the class week-by-week.
Classes will be held through ZOOM video conferencing. ZOOM class information will be emailed prior to class.
