Here are highlights of what’s happening around town this week. It includes the return of the Southborough Senior Center’s in person programming.

  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Join Miss Kim for stories and craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. 
  • Youth Writing Club (3:30 -4:30 pm) @ zoom: The Southborough Library is hosting this virtual creative writing club for ages 10-18. The zoom sessions are a fun and supportive space to get creative and build skills with peers. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Tuesday Tech Time (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Need help with technology? Library staff and teen volunteers will make every effort to assist you. Bring questions about ebooks and electronic resources. This is a drop in event; no registrations necessary. Sessions are limited to no more than 1 hour.
  • Art with Photography for Kids (4:00 – 5:30 pm) @ Apothecary Artists, 1 Boston Rd: Apothecary Artists is offering classes for kids (fee and registration required). This week’s session is for 2nd to 4th graders.  Using a camera, phone, or any device that takes photos, students will learn to play with will play with lighting, angles, shadows and much more.   • Health Impacts of Climate Change (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ zoom: The Southborough Library and Board of Health are partnering on this free virtual program for ages 12+.   • World Read Aloud Day (4:00 – 4:45 pm) @ zoom: Join the Southborough Library for a virtual story time with cat themed picture books followed by fun games.   • Let’s Get Creative class (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Apothecary Artists, 1 Boston Rd: Apothecary Artists is offering classes (fee and registration required). This session: Instructor Chelsea Bradway invites adults ages 18+ to have fun and get creative with found objects (everything from paper, gems, ribbons, fabrics, magazines) to make a piece of art.   • Dull Men’s Club (10:00 am) @ zoom: Casual social club for senior men. New members are always welcome to drop in. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Young Scientists STEM Beginnings (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ zoom: A free virtual series for children, ages 3-6 to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts through hands-on activities, story time and simple experiments. The program through the Southborough Library is sponsored by the YMCA Family & Community Partnership.

Saturday, February 5, 2022

  • Fire Pit Saturdays ( 12:00 – 2:00 pm or 3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Pre-registration (and fee) required. Your ticket includes two hours at a private fire (we’ll light your fire for you), private picnic table seating, wood for burning, roasting sticks, and a kit for making six s’mores.
