Middle Grade author/illustrator/cartoonist Jonathon Todd has led popular workshops for kids at the Southborough Library. This summer he’s returning to the Library for a longer stint.
Todd’s “Comics Academy” will be held two hours per day the last week of July. (Participants should attend each day.) It is open to children and teens (ages 8 and older/Grades 2+).
The class is free, courtesy of a grant from the Southborough Community Fund.

Graphic novelist Jonathan Todd will lead students through all the steps in creating their own graphic novels. Each day will focus on a different aspect of graphic novels, including creating characters, story arcs, pencil drawing, and inking the comics. At the end of the week each student will have their own book, which the instructor will reproduce.
A special reception the following week will allow students to show off their completed graphic novels.
The camp will take place from 3:00 – 5:00 pm, Monday, July 25th through Friday, July 29th.
It’s a nice option for kids not in camp that week. But given the timing, some kids/teens in morning camps may also be able to take advantage. (Like ½ day CITs at Southborough Rec Camp.)
The reception will be on Wednesday, August 3rd from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
