I’m guessing that some readers were surprised that the Southborough Gardeners didn’t hold its annual spring sale last weekend. You’ll be happy to know a special one is coming soon.
In celebration of “50 Years in Bloom”, the club is putting on a special Flower Show & Plant Sale.
We decided to hold the 2 events simultaneously so townspeople could learn about some of our club history and the work we have done over the years. Our Town beautification work is ongoing.
In 1972, the club was founded by ten friends and neighbors who lived in the Strawberry Hill, Deerfoot area.*
The show and sale will be at the Community House, 28 Main Street, Saturday, May 21st from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm.
The Gardeners will be selling “a beautiful selection of locally grown perennials and annuals”. But the main attraction is inside. Attendees can enjoy “A feast for the eyes with over 30 arrangements” made by members of the club.
The special arrangements will be raffled off to attendees at the end of the event.
I’m looking forward to seeing what arrangements the Gardeners come up with. Over the years, special Art in Bloom and Books in Bloom exhibits have highlighted members’ creativity. (Members have also taken turns contributing lovely arrangements to brighten up the Library.)
*1972 was apparently a busy year for civic minded area residents. This year also marked the 50th anniversary of two local community choruses, plus the Friends of the Southborough Library.
