You may have read that the Boy Scouts recently celebrated their 100th birthday. But did you know that for 41 of those 100 years, Southborough Boy Scouts have hosted an annual pancake breakfast? That’s a lot of pancakes.
This year’s breakfast, sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 1, will take place at the Neary School cafeteria on Sunday, March 7, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. There will be pancakes (of course), along with sausage and ham, coffee, tea, milk, and OJ.
The pancake breakfast is the troop’s primary fundraiser. Proceeds help support scout activities and service projects throughout the year. The money will also go toward the troop’s trip to Alaska in the summer of 2011.
You can order tickets through your neighborhood scout — they’re going door-to-door — or by emailing Troop1PancakeBreakfast@gmail.com.
Someone at Pilgrim Church suggested that if you cannot go to the breakfast but want to support the Scouts you could buy a ticket anyway and donate the ticket to the Southborough Food Pantry. The ticket would then be given to a Food Pantry client. Everybody wins. You feel good, scouts get a trip, someone eats.
Tickets can be dropped off at the Pilgrim office or at the Pantry – Hours at the Pantry are Tuesday nights 7-8 pm and Friday mornings 10-11. Church phone is 508-485-4847. Please consider.
