Self defense classes for Algonquin seniors

From the Algonquin Parent Teacher Organization:

We are excited to announce that complimentary self-defense classes for senior class girls who attend Algonquin Regional High School are being offered again this year by Dominick’s School of Martial Arts in Northborough.

The classes are intended to give the girls a higher sense of awareness that may enable them to avoid dangerous situations, as well as give them the skills and techniques to prepare them as they go away to college. Dominick will invite a State Trooper for a portion of the class to discuss awareness/preparedness and the balance of the 3 hour session will be around self defense skills and techniques. The class is intended to help develop self-confidence and self-protection. There will be two classes offered, one on Saturday, March 20th 1 – 4 p.m. and a second class on March 27th from 1 – 4 p.m.

Each class, will be available only to the first 30 girls who sign up, allowing for 60 girls total to participate.

These classes are sponsored by the Algonquin Parent Teachers Organization.

“This is an annual event for the Algonquin Parent Teacher Organization,” said Chairperson Donna Barberio “and is very popular, particularly with girls who are going away to college for the first time.”

To sign up, interested girls may go to the Upper School Office at Algonquin and complete a waiver as well. The waiver may be turned in on the day of the class.
