Southborough’s St. Anne Parish is hosting several “Youth Advent Activities” ahead of Christmas this month.
As I previously posted, St. Anne’s held a special Santa Brunch on Sunday. I discovered they have even more fun in store this weekend and over the following weeks.
If you have questions, or want to RSVP for any of the below events, please email rachelle@stannesouthborough.org.
St. Anne Parish is located at 20 Boston Road. You can read more about it here.

O’ Antiphon Vespers & Ornament Making
Sunday, Dec. 18th, 6:45 pm
The ancient liturgy will immediately follow the 5:30 pm Mass liturgy. It will feature Gregorian chant highlighting the Great O’Antiphon,”O Adonai,” a tradition dating back to the 8th Century.
Vespers is part of the Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office.Through this prayer, the people of God sanctify the day by continual praise of God and prayers of intercession for the needs of the world.
The O’ Antiphons are the antiphons that accompany the Magnificat canticle of Vespers from December 17-23. They are a magnificent theology that uses ancient biblical imagery drawn from the messianic hopes of the Old Testament to proclaim the coming Christ as the fulfillment not only of Old Testament hopes, but present ones as well. Their repeated use of the imperative “Come!” embodies the longing of all for the Divine Messiah.
Vespers will take place in the church, followed by O’ Antiphon ornament making in the Parish Hall
FESTIVAL OF Lessons & Carols
Thursday, Dec. 22nd, 7:00 – 8:00 pm
The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a service of Scripture and song that dates to the late 19th century. In this service, we listen to nine Scripture lessons which recount the Fall, the promise of a Messiah, the Incarnation, and the Great Commission to preach the Good News. Each lesson is followed by a carol or other song that reflects on the lesson’s message and a brief prayer.
The Festival will be celebrated in the church from 7-7:45 pm, followed by Christmas cookies & libations in the parish hall. Please bring a small gift to donate to Seniors in Need.
