New Power Rankings were posted Friday morning for Basketball and Hockey. Three of the Titans teams held their rankings from the prior week, but Boys Basketball slid down four slots to #47.**
On Wednesday, the Boys beat Shrewsbury 63-57. Head Coach Brian Doherty spoke to the Community Advocate about his young team:
“They have to learn how to win,” he said. “Granted that’s our fifth win, but it wasn’t easy, and they’ve got to start making them easier.”
Since the MIIA rankings were updated, Titans Boys Basketball went on to beat St. Paul of Worcester 65-45 on Friday night.*

The other three teams also racked up more wins — ARHS Girls Basketball beat St. Paul 57-27, Girls Ice Hockey beat Westford Academy 6-2, and Boys Hockey Tied Nashoba 4-4.*
Algonquin Wrestling meets this season haven’t been getting press coverage. But last week, the Metrowest Daily News shone a spotlight on the team and a particular family.
On Thursday, MWDN posted photos from Wednesday’s Senior Night for Gonk Wrestling (at which Marlborough beat them 51-30). Yesterday, they followed up with a story on Titan Rafael Knapp who recently earned his 100th career win this season. The article highlights the senior’s success (including his 3rd place at the New England Championships last year) and the family connection of having a father on the coaching staff and younger brother on the team. The Community Advocate covered Algonquin’s Gymnastics meet vs Marlborough on Saturday. The Titans lost 126 to 131.35. (Note: The CA lists the Titans record as 2-2 while the Telegram shows it as 1-4 with 3 straight losses. Meanwhile, the school hasn’t been tweeting the meet results.) There weren’t many details, but there were photos you can check out.
In Skiing, the Algonquin Girls team came in 1st place in last week’s Alpine Ski race with Alexa Butterfield and Jula Utzschneider in 2nd and 3rd place. The Boys team placed 3rd with Michael Desio in 1st place.
No results from Indoor Track’s competitions last week have been posted.
