Kids asked to say YES! to Art

Art contest for Southborough children in grades 1-8 ask kids to express what they love about their hometown

A new art contest is encouraging 1st to 8th graders who live in Southborough to use art to share what they love about our town.

Winning entries from the “Youth Expressions of Southborough” contest will be reproduced onto larger canvases to exhibit in local public spaces.

Given that intent, all 2-D mediums are allowed, but no 3-D art can be accepted. (Scroll down for more details on the rules.)

The contest is organized by someone that many of the budding artists will be familiar with — Neary Art Teacher, resident Denise Johnson. Johnson informs me that she plans to select at least six winning pieces. They will be chosen by a panel of her and five colleagues.

Call for Art flyerThe deadline to mail or deliver submissions is Friday, March 31st.

The program is supported by a grant from the Southborough Cultural Arts Council.*

Below are more details from the Call for Art.

YES! Art Contest is all about YOU (& Your Town )
Youth Expressions of Southborough is a chance to share what you love about Southborough.
Is it…
The natural beauty of our town–the bodies of water, trails, fields & forests?
Specific events–parades, exhibits, fairs, concerts, & celebrations?
Certain places–your neighborhood, school, library, church, playgrounds?
The people–neighbors, teams & coaches, scouting friends/leaders, or public figures such as police, teachers, firefighters, librarians? . . .

Have fun CREATING!

Art must be submitted along with an attached application that asks the artists to provide a title and share some information about their work. Additional contest requirements and details include:
