A Southborough teen is leading a free bi-weekly program at the Southborough Library.
Luca, an Algonquin freshman, is offering to teach attendees how to play chess.
The program welcomes all ages. No experience is necessary. No registration required.
Tonight’s session is scheduled for 6:30 – 7:30 pm. (Subsequent sessions are currently listed at 5:00 pm on alternate Thursdays.)
Since I’m sharing that news, I’ll also point out that the Library offers circulating Chess sets for those who want to play or practice at home.
The Library’s website lists Chess sets among its special circulating items:
We invite patrons who are beginners just learning this fun game and advanced players looking to fine tune their skills to use our circulating chess sets that include a timer.
The chess sets can be found in the Teen Room downstairs and are now available for check out and use in the Southborough Library. The set includes a fabric board and pieces as well as instructions for how to play if you are new to chess or would like to reference the rules while playing.
