Joseph T. Bartulis, 86, of Southborough, died peacefully on April 20, 2023, after a long illness.
He is survived by his loving wife and adored partner of nearly 60 years, Anne (Gilbertson) Bartulis. Joe was a devoted father to his two children, Joseph T. Bartulis, Jr., Esq., and his wife Carla Bartulis of Worcester, and Amy (Bartulis) Winchell of Santa Ana, California. Joe was the beloved Grandpa of three granddaughters, Amanda and Avery Bartulis of Worcester, and Caroline Winchell of Santa Ana, California. Joe is also survived his sister Mary Beth (Bartulis) Read and her husband Greg Read of Orinda, California, his niece Lauren (Read) Revelos, and her husband Bill Revelos of Moraga, California and his grandnephews, Charlie and Joe Revelos of Moraga, California, and his nephew Andy Read and his wife Meghan Read of Lafayette, California.
Joe was born on April 6, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Joseph Bartulis and Edna (Mraz) Bartulis. He was raised in Riverside, Illinois and graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School in 1955 and from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1959 with his Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. Upon graduating from college, he began his career working for U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh which later brought him and his then-young family to Massachusetts. For many years prior to his retirement, Joe was a manufacturers’ representative in the automation industry.
Joe was a big sports fan and enjoyed cheering on Boston’s professional sports teams. Another favorite pastime of Joe’s was spending endless summer weekends with his family on the pontoon boat he docked on Webster Lake.
Joe will be laid to rest during a private ceremony. A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be in his honor at Pilgrim Congregational Church of Southborough, P.O. Box 281, Southborough, MA 01772.
