A little over a year ago, the Southborough town website got a facelift. And today it’s getting an award.
Common Cause Massachusetts, government watchdog organization “dedicated to citizen participation in an open, honest, and accountable government,” will award Southborough and 180 other cities and towns its 2010 e-Government Award in a ceremony today at the State House.
Common Cause said Southborough qualified for the award for having its minutes, agendas, bylaws, town meeting warrant, and other documents available on the town website. It’s the first year Southborough has received the annual award.
The awards ceremony today coincides with the national initiative known as “Sunshine Week” in which media outlets and others address issues of governmental transparency.
