Algonquin Boys Tennis earned the title of Central Mass Champs on Friday. They beat top seed Shrewsbury 3-2 in the Class A Central Mass Athletic Director Association tournament Finals. Now, they’re scheduled to play in the state tournaments.
MIAA only power ranked the ARHS Boys #21 of 38 in the Division 1 tourney. They’ll enter at the Round of 32 against 12th seed Arlington this Friday.
Gonk Girls Tennis will play on their home court in the Prelim Round of the D1 state tourney today. The 30th seed team will play 35 seed Peabody.
The top seed Titans Boys & Girls Lacrosse will play for the CAMADA title today against teams they lost to earlier this season.
The Boys beat Nashoba 10-5 in the Semi Finals. They’ll be challenged by 2nd seed Grafton in the Class A Finals.
The Girls already beat Grafton 12-4 in the Semi Finals. They’ll now play 3rd seed Leominster.
Win or lose, both teams will be in the brackets for D1 state tourneys to be posted tomorrow.
Boys Volleyball will play tomorrow afternoon in the MIAA D1 Prelim Round. The #31 team will play #34 Medford.
Boys Rugby beat Catholic Memorial 38-27 on Friday. They are top seed in the Division 2 state tourney. They’ll jump straight to the Semi Finals, date and opponent TBD.
Gonk Baseball won both of its games last week (over North Middlesex and Fitchburg). As of Friday, the team was ranked #29 for D1. (The cutoff for the soon to be posted brackets is the top 32.)
The Outdoor Track teams competed in the Division 2 State Meet over the long weekend. The Boys came in 10th place out of 33 teams and the Girls 12th out of 24.
Among the highlights, Austeja Bazikas came in #2 for the Girls Pentathlon 800m. ARHS 3rd place winners were Olivia LaBelle for Girls 400m Hurdles, Brigid Purcell 3rd for the Girls 2 Mile, and Benoit Skilton came for the Boys Pole Vault. (Full results are here.) They and several teammates will compete in this week’s “Meet of Champions”.
Two Titans teams won’t be in the post-season tourneys.
Girls Rugby played its final game on Wednesday, losing 14-24 to Weymouth.
Softball finally won its first game of the season, in the last week of its season. the team shutout Murdock 13-0 on Tuesday. But on Friday, they finished with a 5-4 loss to Worcester Tech.
The co-op Girls Golf team (out of Westborough) was scheduled to play in this morning’s North/Central/West Golf Championship. Results have yet to be posted.
