A month from now, the Southborough Library will hold a weeklong workshop for 8-12 year olds to create comic books/graphic novels inspired by true stories.
The event will be led by returning graphic novelist Jonathan Todd. This time, the twist is pairing the tweens with seniors. The tween participants will “learn about events in history, and then learn how to create a short comic book based on those events.”
Registration is required for the free program, (plus an expectation to attend all five days.)
The workshop will be held at the Library Monday, July 24th through Friday the 28th, 10:30 am – 1:30 pm.
Following the class, multiple copies of each child’s book will be reproduced to give out at a reception for the children, their families, and the participating seniors.
Todd is an author/illustrator whose work is inspired by his own childhood experiences. He has experience working with kids (in Southborough and elsewhere) to help them tap into their own experiences and imagination to create cartoons/graphic novels.
