The Southborough Library is trying to recruit more 4th-8th grade readers to join their chapter of the Museum of Science’s Science Adventure Book Club. Their first meeting is tomorrow night, so I’m sharing more details.
The program is part of the museum’s summer spotlight on the planet Mars. Kids are invited to read and talk about the YA science fiction adventure, The Countdown Conspiracy Katie Slivensky. Members are encouraged to read a section of the book prior to each meeting. The museum describes:
This Science Adventure story features 12-year-old Miranda Regent who was just chosen as one of six kids from around the world to train for the first ever mission to Mars in 10 years. Soon after, the Antarctic training base is attacked, and it looks like Miranda is the intended target. Now the entire mission—and everyone’s lives—are at risk. And Miranda may be the only one who can save them!
Meetings will take place Thursdays, from 7:00 – 8:00 pm in the Eaton Room from tomorrow (July 13th) through August 17th.
Members will take part in activities, using materials and recordings of guest speakers provided by the museum. (The group will also connect with other club members across the state over zoom.)
