Earlier this summer, I shared news about a local baseball team with many players from Southborough or Algonquin Regional — the Northborough team for the American Legion’s league.

Playoffs have been posted, and the team’s first game is scheduled for this weekend.

The team sponsored by American Legion Post 234 features high school and freshman year of college baseball players from the surrounding towns.

This season the Northborough team was ranked 4th in its Division A with an 8-8 record. For the full Worcester zone, they were ranked 6th.

The 8 team playoff brackets pits them against 3rd seed Shrewsbury (with a 12-4 record). The game will take place 4:00 pm on Saturday, July 15th at Holy Cross’ Fitton Field in Worcester.

The schedule shows that the teams previously played a double header at that field on June 20th, with Northborough losing 5-7, followed by a 10-9 win.

I’ve been told the tournament is double elimination and we don’t have the schedule for the next game yet.
