Lawrence Palmer Kimball, 86, of Bartlett, New Hampshire and Southborough, Massachusetts, passed away on July 8, 2023. He is survived by his wife Louise W. Kimball to whom he was married for 63 years, his three daughters Beth, Kristie and Ashlyn, his six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Lawrence was born in Concord, Massachusetts to Prescott E. and Helen L. Kimball. After proudly serving in the Navy after high school, Lawrence earned his MBA from Babson College in 1965. He worked as a Financial Analyst for Baybanks in Boston until his retirement. Subsequently, he worked in the Trust Department at Boston Advisors. As a young man, Lawrence played many sports, but his focus was baseball. He played as an undergraduate for Nichols College, was drafted into the Detroit Tigers Farm team, and was a lifelong Red Sox fan. Lawrence dedicated much of his time to service for the town of Southborough; as a Deacon of the Pilgrim Church as well as on the town Planning Board. Lawrence loved his home in the White Mountains where he spent many years skiing, hiking and enjoying nature.
A private service will be held for Lawrence by his family. To honor his memory, donations may be made in Lawrence’s name to The Nature Conservancy or Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation.
I remember Larry well.
He was fearless — fighting against insider cliques ( both political and pro-business ) which controlled the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board, in the 1980s and 90s.
Many of MySouthborough readers naively think corruption does not exist in a small town like Southborough. But they are mistaken — unfortunately.
Larry Kimball fought the good fight, on behalf of us all.
