The Greater Boroughs Partnership for Health are providing another session to train the public on how to use Narcan, plus the necessary supplies.
The free life-saving training session at the Southborough Library only takes a half hour.
An event flyer promotes:
Nearly 40% of overdose deaths occur while a bystander is present. Narcan access for bystanders can help save lives.
Pre-registration is required to participate (here) since space is limited. The event will be held at the Southborough Library Monday, October 30th from 3:00 – 3:30 pm..
The event page explains:
Narcan is the brand name of the generic naloxone and is a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids – including heroin, fentanyl, and prescription medications – when given in time.
This Free Narcan training will provide participants with a brief training on how to recognize an opioid overdose, when and how to use Narcan, and a free kit to take home. The kit includes:
- 2 doses of Narcan
- Fentanyl test strips with instructions
- Face shield
- Instructions on Narcan administration
- Recovery resource guide
Updated (10/12/23 2:40 pm): I fixed the registration link.
Updated (10/13/23 9:19 am): I replaced the flyer. (The original referred to the wrong date.)
That link looks to go to an older class for May that’s no longer available. Looks like the program ID in the link just needs to point to program ID 30401 rather than 30348.
Thank you for pointing that out. I copied and updated the May event. Clearly, I forgot to properly change the link. I just did.
