The Recreation Department announced today that AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) have been installed at several fields around town, including ones at each of the public schools in Southborough.
The live saving devices are now publicly accessible at:
Neary’s front field (by the tennis courts)- Neary’s main fields
- Woodward’s field
Trottier’s Track & Field- and 911 Memorial Field (not owned by the Town, but often used by ARHS teams among others)

The announcement states:
Each cabinet comes with an AED device, user manual, and first responder kit. Each cabinet is alarmed and will sound when opened, however the alarm will NOT trigger a public safety response. Please know that calling 911 remains priority.
The Recreation Department will be offering First Aid/CPA trainings in the near future. Please register if you are interested in educating yourself further on the use of these devices.

The Malinowski family of Southborough applied for a Choate Grant, and worked with Recreation and Fire Chief Achilles on a program to cover school recreational fields. They also pitched in a personal contribution of over $3K to cover the remaining costs.
