Two Algonquin teams are playing in CMADA tourneys this weekend — one for the title of Central Mass Class A Champions. Plus, it also turns out that another Titans team fell out of the running for a title earlier this week.

Girls Volleyball is playing in the tourney Finals this weekend.

The 2nd seed Girls beat 3rd seed Nipmuc 3-0 last night in the Quarter Finals. That sets them up to challenge top seed Shrewsbury. The Titans already beat the Colonials in the first half of this season, but lost their more recent matchup this month.

Last year, the Gonk Girls made it to the Finals but fell to Westborough. To cheer them on at this year’s Finals, head to Whitinsville Christian High School on Saturday, October 28th at 4:30 pm.

That same evening at home, Girls Soccer will be playing in Semi Finals.

On Wednesday, the 2nd seed Titan won their Quarter Finals 4-1 over Wachusett.

Challenging them this Saturday at 5:00 pm will be 3rd seed Tantasqua (who also won their Quarter Finals 4-1). It’s the first time the teams have faced each other since Gonk beat them in last year’s CAMADA Semi-Finals (4-0).

As for the other team I reported as still vying for the title. . .

It appears that the ARHS Athletics schedule mislabeled last night’s Field Hockey game as a Semi Finals match. The good news is that the girls beat North Middlesex 3-1. But, as the Telegram describes, it was just a consolation game.

Earlier in the week, the team had tied lower seed Nashoba in the Quarter Finals. They were then paired with a team that lost its Quarter Finals, while Nashoba was paired against Uxbridge, and Wachusett against Doherty. Obviously, only two teams can play in the Finals. According to the Telegram, those teams will be Uxbridge and Wachusett/Doherty.

As I’ve already shared, after losing their Quarter Finals, Boys Soccer was also slated for a consolation game against North Middlesex. They won 1-0.
