I received news about residents involved in two special, traditional holiday entertainment events over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Thanksgiving Day Parade
On Thursday morning, resident Angie Crockwell will be marching in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. You can look for her among the marching band for Saluting America’s Band Directors.
The band is comprised of about 400 band directors from all 50 states selected to represent music education and educators. As a music teacher at Marlborough High, Crockwell is representing the school and Massachusetts.
If that sounds familiar, it’s because she also had that honor for the 2022 Rose Bowl parade (see contributed photos above and right).
According to the group’s website, the float for that inaugural performance won them the Showmanship Award.
The Nutcracker, November 24-26
Over the long weekend, Hanover Theater is putting on its annual production of the Nutcracker. Three young Southborough residents will be among the ballet slippered cast.
According to the company, Quinn McDowell (pictured right) will play a soldier.
10 year old Violet Sabel will play a junior angel, and 12 year old Olivia Schiavo is a townsperson. (I don’t have their photos, but the image left captures one of the scenes Schiavo might take part in.)
If you want to see the residents and other dancers perform in the classic Tchaikovsky Christmas ballet, click here to purchase tickets for this Wednesday through Sunday. They range in price from $39-59 per seat. (Compared to other professional productions this season, that’s pretty family-friendly pricing!)
