On Tuesday, December 19th, Algonquin will hold its annual holiday music festival with art and treats. The public is invited to attend the big concert featuring school instrumental and vocal groups.

While I’m sharing those details, I’ll also share the Music Dept’s news on a big accomplishment earned by several students.

ARHS Holiday Concert

ARHS Holiday concert flyerHoliday music will be performed by all of Algonquin’s Choral groups, Orchestra, and Jazz Ensemble I. The fun starts at 6:30 pm.

Every year, the evening opens in the ARHS Rotunda with performances by their a cappella groups and small chamber groups in the lobby area of the auditorium. There student art will be on display and light refreshments available.

The main concert is slated to start at 7:00 pm in the auditorium with the orchestra, choral groups, and Jazz Ensemble I.

Towards the end of the concert, all alum are encouraged to join the orchestra and chorus on the stage for their traditional performance of “White Christmas”.

Members of Northborough Southborough Music Association can attend for free. (If you would like to learn about becoming a NSMA member, click here.) For non-members, tickets should be purchased online here. The prices are $5 per adult and $3 per student/senior citizen.

Algonquin SpiritwearAlthough Algonquin events are now “cashless”, you may still want to bring your wallet. Based on past years, I’m assuming there will be a table selling Spiritwear for holiday gifts, and I don’t know what their in-person options for payments will be.

Central Districts

Central DistrictsThe ARHS Art & Music Dept’s blog GonkArts posted Congratulations to 15 students who auditioned for and were accepted into the Mass Music Educators Association Central District Senior Festival Ensembles.
