Crafternoon, Cook Book Club, Therapy Dog, D&D Character Creation

Above: There are events for a variety of ages and interests at the Library next week, including crafting “Succulent Nightlights”, participating in the Cook Book Club, chilling with the Therapy Dog, and joining the D&D series.

Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend through next weekend.

Daily through mid-January:

  • Reindeer Quest (Sunrise to Sunset). The Trustees encourages families to hike the trails at Chestnut Hill Farm to search for elusive “reindeer”. For details, click here.

  • Cook Book Club (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: This month, select recipes from Magnolia Table by Joanna Gaines to make share at the gathering. New participants are encouraged and all ages and partners welcome.  Email your selected dish in advance to msorensen@southboroughma.com. For details, see related post.
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

Wednesday, January 3, 2024

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Crafternoon: Succulent Nightlights (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Pre-registration is required for this free program for ages 7+. This session, paint plaster succulents and add sparkly lights. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Therapy Dog (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Come and enjoy an hour with therapy dog Glory! For all ages, no registration required.

Thursday, January 4, 2024

  • Mah Jongg (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The weekly program would love new players to join. Feel free to stop by to watch or talk to one of the players to see if you would be interested. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Virtual Book Club (7:30 – 8:30 pm) @ zoom: Southborough Library hosted book group. Participants can chat about what they’re reading or listening to with library staff and other patrons. Meet once a month to informally exchange ideas. To sign up, contact rdonovan@cwmars.org.

  • Dull Men’s Club (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: Casual social club for senior men. New members are always welcome to drop in. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Canasta (11:15 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.

  • D&D: Character Creation (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Registration is required for this event for ages 12+ This is part of the series sponsored by Friends of the Southborough Library and led by a Dungeon Master. This session, learn about and create characters to use in future games. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00pm) @ Southborough Library: Biweekly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
