Potential Select Board Race

Papers have been pulled by the incumbent Chair and a potential challenger

Earlier this week, I alerted that the window was opening to run in the annual Town election. I promised to keep readers apprised if any potential races developed, and one has.

For the Select Board, papers have been pulled by Chair Andrew Dennington and by Capital Improvement & Planning Committee member Joseph Palmer.

That doesn’t guarantee a race this spring. Potential candidates don’t always follow through with filing papers when pulled.

The deadline for filing signed nomination papers is 5:00 pm on Monday, March 26th. (And even then, candidates still have until April 11th to reverse their decision and take their names of the ballot — which has previously happened.)

Anyone interested in throwing their hat in the ring for that race, or any other seat, can still pull papers through Friday, March 22nd.

The two men aren’t the only residents you may see collecting signatures at the Transfer Station and around town this weekend.

Other people who have already pulled papers are:

  • Incumbents:
    • Chelsea Malinowski for the Board of Health
    • Kathleen Harragan for the Regional School Committee
    • Marnie Hoolahan for the Planning Board
    • David Ekberg for the Library’s Board of Trustees
  • New candidate — Mary Tinti for the Library’s Board of Trustees

Since there are two Trustee seats on the ballot, none of those signal a race as of yet.
