Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend through next weekend.

Reminder, it is February break for the public schools and Monday is a federal holiday.

Saturday, February 17, 2024

  • Middle School Book Club (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Monthly Book Club for grades 6-8 with discussion and activities. For details, see related post.
  • Read to a Dog (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Children’s Room: Register for kids ages 5+ to get a chance to read to a therapy dog. For details, see related post.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00pm) @ Southborough Library: Biweekly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.

Monday, February 19, 2024 – President’s Day

  • Town Facilities closed: Town offices, the Southborough Library, and the Southborough Senior Center are closed in observance of the federal holiday.

  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Habits To Thrive: Ayurveda 101 (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ zoom: The Southborough Library and Jill Vroman Fitness & Wellness are offering a free, virtual Wellness workshop to the community. This session focuses on how you can use Ayurveda and Circadian Rhythms to support your sleep, digestion, stress and weight. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

Wednesday, February 21, 2024

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Kids DIY Terrarium Workshop (11:00 am) @ Gulbankian Florist, 40 Mt Vickery Rd: For ages 5-12 years old. There is a registration fee and attendance is limited. For details, see related post.
  • Read to a Dog (6:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, Children’s Room: Register for kids ages 5+ to get a chance to read to a therapy dog. To sign up, please email kivers@southboroughma.com.
  • Southborough Rotary Club (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Southborough. New and prospective members are always welcome. (Held on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month.)

  • Buildwave (10:30 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library, main floor: A free, creative, hands-on building program for kids in grades K-6. Registration is required. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Maple Tap-a-thon (choose 10:00 – 11:30 am or 12:30 – 2:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: description. Pre-registration (and fee) required. This special family event is led by a Trustees ranger who will show us how to identify maple trees on the farm and share the history of tapping as we learn about how maple sap runs. Each family group will set their own tap to get the farm’s maple flowing!  For details, see related post.
  • St. Mark’s Messy Church (4:00 – 6:00 pm) @ St Mark’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 27 Main St: A worship experience for busy families of younger kids. Includes a Bible story theme with activities, crafts, and a shared meal. For details and to RSVP, click here.
