As the winter sports season comes to a close, Girls Hockey and Girls and Boys Indoor Track continue to impress as they are representing Algonquin in their respective competitions.
Members of the Track teams are competing in Nationals, while Girls Hockey heads into the “Final Four” this weekend. On Wednesday night, Titans Girls Hockey beat Nauset/Monomoy in overtime, for their 10th straight win.
Up to the third period the teams were gridlocked 0-0 until sophomore Alex Cutler scored for Algonquin, putting them in the lead. The goal was shortly followed by Carly Brand of the Warriors, tying the game.
The golden goal was scored in overtime by senior captain Emily Johns, securing the Titans’ spot in the state semi-finals.
They will face the top seeded team in MIAA DII, Duxbury. With their record of 22-3 against Algonquin’s 16-6-1, it’s going to be an intense game.
The game will be on Saturday, March 9 at 5pm at the Loring Arena in Framingham. Tickets can be bought here.
The winner of this game will face Falmouth/Canton/Burlington/Marshfield in the state final on Sunday, March 17 at TD Garden.
Additionally, the boys’ and girls’ indoor track teams are wrapping up their record breaking season. It’s been historic so far, with 16 school records set and more to come at their nationals meet this weekend.
Nationals are held at Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston where relay teams and individual athletes have been competing since Thursday, March 7 and will continue until Sunday, March 10.
Notable performances were the boys’ 4 by 1 mile relay who were seeded 12th in the country and the girls’ 4 by 1 mile relay who were seeded 14th in the country.

- 60m hurdles: Olivia LaBelle
- 60m dash: Max Eigen
- Boys Pentathlon: Miles Lipka
Sunday:
- Boys 1 mile: Stephen White
- Boys 4x800m (Joe Lamburn, Jonah Gould, Chris Kardos, Matthew Zhang)
