Fatal accident on Main Street (Updated)

Updated (4/8/24 7:43 am): The section of Route 30 is still closed this morning and more details were made available on yesterday’s fatal car crash at 103 Main Street. (I accidentally reversed two digits last night.)

A press release from the SPD states that the deceased driver was a 23 year old male from Marlborough.

The accident included a car fire (extinguished by the Southborough Fire Department) and downed wires that utility services are working on fixing.

Here is the release from Chief Ryan Newell with more information. (Warning: Some of the details are disturbing.):

On Sunday, April 7, 2024, Southborough Police and Fire Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident in the area of #103 Main Street. SPD and SFD arrived on scene and found a motor vehicle fully engulfed with the victim (driver) pinned inside the vehicle. The road was shut down by SPD while Southborough Fire Department extinguished the fire. The victim, a 23- year-old resident of Marlborough, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Southborough Police and the Mass State Police are investigating the accident. National Grid and Verizon have been repairing a utility pole and down wires throughout the area, through the night. The roadway is still closed as of 0730 am this morning.

Earlier tonight, the Southborough Police Department posted the terrible news that a car crash that afternoon resulted in a death.

As of this post, the Identity of the victim Isn’t it public.

The evening of Sunday, April 7th, the SPD posted The following message to Facebook:

Southborough Police and the Mass State Police Accident Recon Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident on Route 30 (Main Street) in Southborough. Please avoid the area, as the roadway will be closed until the accident scene has been processed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the motorist.

The news followed up on a post earlier in the day stating that the area of route 30 (around 103 Main Street) was closed due to an accident.
