Many people think of fall and winter holidays as the time to donate food for people in need. But summer is often the toughest time for the Southborough Food Pantry. Organizers asked me to make readers aware of their increased need for donations.
They asked me to share the following message:
School has closed for the summer.
Families are leaving town for vacation homes.
The Southborough Food Pantry has 71 families, with 163 people who come to us for help with their food insufficiency. They aren’t going on vacation.
They are in Southborough all summer.
Please help us continue to care for their needs over the summer in any way that you can. Even a little can help.
The items on our list each week are some of the groceries that have the highest and fastest turnover in our inventory. They are needed constantly and in large numbers.
Please remember us when you shop or donate online to help us buy what we need.
Thank you for thinking of us.
