Outdoor basketball clinic next week and upcoming soccer camps in July & August

Maybe the hoopla around the Celtics’ big win has increased your kids’ interest in basketball. Or maybe you’re starting to worry about your kids having too much time at loose ends next week. Either way, you might want to check out the “Hoops Clinic” being offered by Southborough Rec.

Of course, with the World Cup Finals coming up this weekend, some families may be more focused on soccer right now. Never fear, Rec has upcoming camps for that as well.

Here are the details on this summer’s sports clinics/camps.

Coach ID’s Summer Hoops Clinic

3-morning session for kids entering grades 4-8

Hoops ClinicRec is bringing back Game Time Training for outdoor classes on the court at Fayville Park/Playground on Central Street. 

The clinic will be held on three mornings, Mon-Wed, July 1-3, 9:00 am – noon

This basketball skills program. . . is designed to cultivate a strong foundation in fundamental basketball techniques. The program focuses on teaching athletes essential skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive maneuvers through structured and engaging drills. Participants will also learn the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play, fostering a positive and supportive environment!

BEST Soccer

Weeklong classes/camps with options for 3-14 yr olds

The following programs will be held at the soccer fields on the Neary School campus, 53 Parkerville Road.

There are two series of Mon-Fri classes/camps, July 8-12th and August 1-16. Times are broken out by age groups, and older kids have two options:

  • Class for ages 3-5 yrs — 9:00 – 9:45 am ($100)
  • Morning camp for ages 5-14 yrs — 9:00 – 12:00 pm ($190)
  • Full day camp for ages 7-14 yrs — 9:00 -3:00 pm ($285)

Rec promotes:

Best Soccer will focus on a different technical topic each day. Players will learn the importance of a good warm-up through fun games and activities. Coaches will develop the basic foot skills, passing and shooting through structured games with each player actively involved. Players will also learn the basics of soccer match play via 3×3 tournaments focusing on positions, communication and interest in soccer while still having lots of fun!
