Water main at Woodbury & Vale Terrace broken & fixed

A Facebook alert by Southborough Police last night showed flooding on Woodbury Road at Vale Terrace.

The flooding wasn’t caused by yesterday’s downpours. It was a water main break that kept DPW employees working overnight. A post by the DPW this morning shows the problem is fixed. While I’m sharing that news, I’m also sharing a couple of other DPW updates about repair work in town.

DPW’s Facebook post this morning shared:

Water Department completed a repair on the water main at Vale Terrace and Woodbury Road overnight. Calls started coming in to DPW office around 3:45pm, reporting low pressure and “no water”.
Members of the Highway Dept. provided assistance, as well, to complete the repair.

Clean-up and repair of the road will continue this week.

Tremendous job, by all involved, to restore water, SAFELY, to the residents in this area.

It’s at least the second time in a few days that DPW workers had to respond for an emergency repair jop. On Saturday, they posted:

A fire hydrant on Woodland Road was hit by a car this morning and sent 25ft into the woods!

Hydrants are attached to the water main 5ft+ deep. They are designed to break away at ground level if struck.

The Water Dept. repaired with a few new and spare parts.

The hydrant was back in service that same day.

Great job by the crew with a quick response and repair!

This morning, the DPW also posted news that William Onthank Lane is being paved today (Tuesday, July 16th).
