Last fall, a group of students* from St. Mark’s School founded an organization to help refugees from Ukraine. Their specific focus is helping those with poor English communication skills.
Currently, the group has more students in need of help than volunteers to help them. They asked me to reach out to readers with a call for help.
Anyone who speaks English fluently and is at least 13 is eligible to help.
Stephen Hodi is one of the current student leaders for EDUkraine. He explained that most of the program’s students are refugees with very poor English skills. They arrived in the US through the Uniting for Ukraine visa program. Now they need help gaining conversational English skills to use for jobs, education, and integrating into society.
In addition to recruiting volunteers to join the original Southborough chapter, the website also encourages the public to form new chapters.
