Summer Concert Series food plan changes

Rec has cancelled this week's dinner truck — but you can still buy dessert (if weather permits a concert)

Southborough Recreation wants to make the public aware of a change from previously announced plans for food offerings at the Summer Concert series.

To avoid disappointments, they are cancelling some — but not all — of the food trucks that had been booked. Here are the updated plans.

For this Wednesday’s concert, attendees should plan to pack a dinner to bring with them. (If you don’t want to cook, you could support a Southborough restaurant by ordering takeout.)

But you don’t need to pack dessert, since Yummy Mummy Bakery will have a booth at the concert.

Of course, that’s if the weather cooperates. Rec is keeping an eye on the forecast. Each week, they’ll make any cancellation decisions by noon on Wednesday about that night’s event. If they cancel it, that will be posted on Facebook here.

Why the change?

According to Program Coordinator Christina McCarthy, the food truck that had been booked for last week failed to show. Meanwhile, general concert attendance has been unpredictable. (I’m guessing that’s partially due to weather conditions also being unpredictable.)

But based on past experience, they expect a big turnout for the kids’ concert next week. So they do have a dinner truck booked for that night.

Here is the updated schedule for the remainder of the series:

The free summer series produced by the Town is again thanks to support from The Southborough Community Fund, Friends of Southborough Recreation, and Southborough Cultural Arts Council (funded through the Mass Cultural Council).

Updated (8/13/24 1:29 pm): Rec announced the August 21st food vendor
