The 3rd annual Shiftstrong fundraiser will raise money for ALS ONE

In memory of his late father, Southborough teen Charlie Shifrin is putting on the 3rd Annual Home Run Derby. The fun competition is also a fundraiser for ALS research and care.*

The event this weekend will appropriately take place on Shifrin Field.

3rd annual Shiftstrong Home Run Derby flyerThe event is this Saturday, August 10th, 12:00 pm at the Mooney baseball complex (Finn School, 60 Richards Road). It’s free for spectators and $25 per batter. (Click here to register.)

The competition will begin with softball players at 12:30 pm (high school followed by adults).

Home Run Derby 2024 scheduleThe baseball competition starts with players 10U and up at 1:30 pm, split by age groups. The oldest group (adults) starts at 3:30 pm. (See schedule right.)

The fundraiser is in memory of Shifrin’s father Brian Shifrin and on behalf of all others impacted by ALS.

As the fundraiser promotes, Brian was a:

Southborough dad, husband, son, brother, uncle, coach, selectman, volunteer, friend and mentor to so many, who lost to ALS in November of 2019 at age 43.

Last year, organizers raised $30K for ALS ONE. This year, their goal is $25K and as of this morning, they were just over halfway there. To learn more or make a donation, click here

*Proceeds will be donated to ALS ONE, which describes itself as:

an unprecedented partnership of world leaders in ALS research and care who have joined forces to help cut bureaucratic red tape to combat the disease more efficiently and effectively for all.
