This Wednesday, The Elastic 5 will play rock & roll for all ages on the outdoor stage at Neary.
According to their website, the quintet features a “top flight drum and bass combo, excellent lead vocals, and skillful guitar/keyboard players”. The band:
specializes in the original authentic arrangements of rock, pop, and folk songs of the latter 20th century. From American 50’s rock & roll pioneers like Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry, to 60’s bands of the British Invasion and psychedelic rock, to the power pop and hard rock of the 70’s, to the punk and alternative artists of the 80’s and 90’s, the Elastic Five is the ultimate tribute to popular music! . . .
What sets this group apart from most tribute bands is its attention to detail in the music and the accuracy of the vocal harmonies and instrumental tone. Combined with an unrivaled song list that covers a huge variety of artists, this makes for a great live musical experience for all ages!
Below is a sample of one of their performances this summer. (You can find more of their videos here.)
The Southborough concert will take place Wednesday August 14th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Neary School’s field, 53 Parkerville Road.
Concert goers are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs and enjoy a picnic. Concert goers should bring their own dinners (or eat in advance). But you will be able to buy dessert from Trombetta’s Ice Cream.
At least one more concert is still to follow this summer — Brett Warwick & Friends on August 21st. (And, of course, there will be a live band at Southborough Summer Nights on Saturday, August 24th.)
The free Summer Concert Series is sponsored by The Southborough Community Fund, Friends of Southborough Recreation, and Southborough Cultural Arts Council (funded through the Mass Cultural Council).
Updated (8/13/24 1:22 pm): I had the wrong dessert vendor for this concert. According to Rec, Trombetta’s Ice Cream truck will be there this week (and Yummy Mummy next week.)
