Saturday, September 14, 2024

  • Read to a Dog (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Children’s Room: Register for kids ages 5+ to get a chance to read to a therapy dog, Pheonix. To sign up, email kivers@southboroughma.com
  • Yoga on the Trails for adults (9:00 – 10:00 am) @ Sudbury Reservoir Trail: Free event hosted by the Trails Committee. Participants are asked to bring a yoga mat, a towel to lay down on the ground, and a water bottle. Sign up and learn details here.
  • AWC Car Wash (10:00 am – 1:00 pm) @ Chet’s Diner Northborough: Fundraiser for Algonquin Writing Center.
  • Pollination Potluck Picnic and Garden Tour (11:00 am – 1:00 pm) @ Beals Preserve: Free event hosted by the Open Space Preservation Commission in partnership with The Bumblebee Project. No need to sign up in advance. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Back to School Movie Night (7:30 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School’s stadium field, 79 Bartlett Street, Northborough: The fundraiser for ARHS Student Council will feature Moana. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Rally Sunday (10:00 am) @ Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common St: To kickoff Sunday School, the church is inviting the public to an event with a petting zoo, face painting, and more. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Closing Ceremony for Art on the Trails (3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Beals Preserve: Closing Poetry Reading and Reception. Poets read work along the trail in response to art installations. For details, see dedicated post.

Monday, September 16, 2024

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Knitting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Social knitting group — scheduled to meet weekly this summer. Beginners are welcome and supplies will be provided, though you can also bring your own and “any creation you are working on”.

  • Second & Third Grade Book Group (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Room: Monthly Book Club with discussion and activities. Please email Kim at kivers@southboroughma.com to register.
  • Narcan Training (6:00 – 6:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Register for free training to recognize and respond to opoid overdoses with a free kit. For details, see dedicated post.
  • ARHS Senior Parent College Night (6:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School auditorium: Presentation by Guidance Dept for parents of Seniors who plan to apply to colleges this year.
  • Stress Management (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ zoom: The Southborough Library and Jill Vroman Fitness & Wellness are offering another free, virtual Wellness workshop to the community. This session focuses on an emotional toolkit to deal with stress. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Neary School Picture Day
  • Dedication Ceremony for Senior Addition (8:30 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: Council on Aging will celebrate the completion of the Senior Center’s newly added Common Room by welcoming the public with light refreshments. This event is free with no registration required.  For details, see dedicated post.
  • Tech Time (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Teen Room: Library staff will help patrons with questions about devices, library apps, research databases and more. This is a weekly drop-in opportunity. No registration necessary.
  • Senior Matinee: Ezra (12:30 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Pre-registration is required (and it may be full). The movie is preceded by an optional lunch at noon (that isn’t free unless you bring your own.) For details, see related post.
  • Young Scientists STEM Beginnings (1:15 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: The first class of another free 6-week series for children, ages 3-6 to learn STEM concepts through fun activities, stories and experiments. For details, see last fall’s post. To sign up, click here.
  • Southborough Rotary Club (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Southborough. New and prospective members are always welcome. (Held on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month.)

  • Trottier Early Release (10:50 am) @ Trottier Middle School: Students get out of school early to allow teachers to prepare for Curriculum Night.

  • Wee Care 30th Anniversary (11:00 am – 1:00 pm) @ 11 Main Street: An open house to celebrate the daycare & preschool’s milestone with fun activities, free food, and photos for reminiscing. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: The return of the fall schedule for the biweekly drop in program for ages 18+. Work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
  • Learn to Laser Cut (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Free library event for students in grades 6-12. Learn how to make fall and halloween themed charms, pendants, and key chains and go home with your own creation. Click here to register.
