For residents and commuters who have complained that the railroad crossing on Central Street is in dire need of repairs, there is good news. The Town has learned that work will be conducted on Tuesday, October 15th.

That means, that drivers will need to detour around that area for two days.

DPW Superintendent Bill Cundiff reached out with the good news. He asked me to alert readers about the planned detour:

Central St crossing detour (contributed map)According to CSX Railroad Consultant (Safety Services & Supply, Inc.), The Central Street Railroad crossing will be closed on October 15th and will reopen on October 16th. The road closure is to allow CSX to make improvements to the railroad crossing which is currently in very poor condition. The proposed Detour is attached. We appreciate the patience and understanding of everyone who has been affected by this situation.
