Heritage Day isn’t the only holiday Southborough Recreation is getting ready to celebrate. The Town department is teaming up again with the Southborough Fire Association and other organizations to hold the annual Trunk or Treat. And this year, they are bringing back* the Outdoor Movie to the festivities.
On Friday, they opened a survey, asking the community to pick the movie.
The event will take place on Saturday October 26th. On Facebook, Rec invited:
Let us know your favorite, and we’ll see you there for a spooky good time! 👻🍬
The options are Casper (1995), The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), and Hotel Transylvania.
As of this morning, Casper had a clear lead with 52%, but only 43 votes had been cast. To pick your favorite, click here. (Rec will likely make a decision by Wednesday morning based on the survey results. So, vote soon!)
Rec is also encouraging people who want to help support the event to donate candy “fun giveaways” for trunk or treaters, or an Amazon/Target “package” For details, click here.
For those not familiar with the annual event, it combines the SFA’s traditional costume parade and contest with trick or treating at vehicles decked out like Halloween themed parade floats.
The “trunks” are organized by Town departments, community groups and businesses. (Click here for pics from last year.)
This year, Rec is promoting the parade from Woodward to the fire station bay will begin at 3:00 pm where the SFD will hold its party. That will be followed by the Trunk or Treat in the Woodward parking lot. Attendees can buy dinner from a food truck starting at 5:00 pm, and set up to enjoy the outdoor movie on the field.
Stay tuned for more details.
*The outdoor screening of Monsters, Inc was part of the first annual movie night in 2021.
