  • Golf Fore ALS @ Southborough Golf Club: All long weekend, $10 from each player’s greens fees will go to ALS research and care. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Read to a Dog (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Children’s Room: Register for kids ages 5+ to get a chance to read to a therapy dog. For details, see related post.

  • Golf Fore ALS @ Southborough Golf Club: All long weekend, $10 from each player’s greens fees will go to ALS research and care. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Pumpkin drop-off (4:00 – 6:00 pm) @ Common Street: Drop-off your carved or decorated contributions to the Pumpkin Stroll display on the stone wall around the Old Burial Grounds. 
  • Apothecary Artists Grand Opening (5:00 – 8:00 pm) @ 11 Main Street: Open House of the new studio & gallery location (with a shop) includes refreshments and art activities. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Pumpkin Stroll (6:00 – 8:00 pm) @ line up begins in front of 25 Main Street: The community is invited to view the big display of jack-o-lanterns. Sponsored by Southborough Rotary, which will be offering refreshments and collecting items for the Food Pantry from their latest needs list

Heritage Day, Monday, October 14, 2024

  • State holiday (for Columbus Day / Indigenous People’s Day): No public school. Town offices, Senior Center, and Library are closed.
  • Golf Fore ALS @ Southborough Golf Club: All long weekend, $10 from each player’s greens fees will go to ALS research and care. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Heritage Day (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) on the St. Mark’s field (at the intersection of routes 30 & 85) and nearby locations: The the annual town celebration of our community. While it honors the town’s history, it is rooted in the present, bringing together different segments of the community. For details, see thread for past and future coverage.
    • Town Parade (10:00 am) departs from St. Anne’s Church on Boston Road, proceeds down Main Street, ending at Marlborough Road and St. Mark’s Street.
    • Heritage Day (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) on the St. Mark’s field (at the intersection of routes 30 & 85) and nearby locations: For details of the events planned on the field, see dedicated post.
    • Friends of Southborough Library Book & Bake Sale (10:00 am – 3:00 pm) @ Southborough Library parking lot: One free book per child. Selling used books, and more. There will also be a Bake Sale table with hot cocoa. For details, see dedicated post.
    • KofC Soccer Challenge (10:00 am – 1:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s field (at the intersection of routes 30 & 85): Soccer penalty shot competition for ages 6-16. For details, see dedicated post.
    • Fire Station Open House (11:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ Public Safety Building: The Southborough Fire Dept will open its garage bay to offer tours, live demos, face painting, goodie bags and more. For details, see dedicated post.
    • Dedication Ceremony (12:00 pm) @ Heritage Park: The Town will honor the memory of Kim Tolander by dedicating a bench in the new park. For details, see dedicated post.
    • Skyrise Children’s Theater performance (12:00 pm) @ Community House lawn (28 Main St): Skyrise’s “2024 All Stars Cast” of kids will perform a free variety show. For details, see related post.

  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Second & Third Grade Book Group (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Room: Monthly Book Club with discussion and activities. Please email Kim at kivers@southboroughma.com to register.
  • Select Board Office Hours (6:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Town House Hearing Room, 17 Common St: Residents are invited to drop in to informally speak with two Board members about any questions, concerns or interests. This session will be hosted by members Marguerite Landry and Sam Stivers
  • Narcan Training (6:00 – 6:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Register for free training to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses with a free kit. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Tech Time (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Teen Room: Library staff will help patrons with questions about devices, library apps, research databases and more. This is a weekly drop-in opportunity. No registration necessary.
  • Senior Flu Clinic (10:00 am – 12:30 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Free vaccine clinic for residents ages 65+ with high dose flu shots available. Preregistration required. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Young Scientists STEM Beginnings (1:15 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: This is a free 6-week in-person series for children, ages 3-6 to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts through hands-on activities, story time and simple experiments..   • ARHS Senior Class photo (1:45 pm) @ ARHS Football field.
  • Southborough Rotary Club (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Southborough. New and prospective members are always welcome. (Held on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month.)
  • Live Blues Jam n’ Open Mic (8:00 –11:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly event. Come play or sing with the house band and fellow musical talent, or just enjoy the show. For details, see Facebook event.

  • Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:45 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: A weekly program for ages 0-2 years with their parents/caregivers. Each session will include puppets and music. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Fourth & Fifth Grade Book Group (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Room: Monthly Book Club with discussion and activities. Please email Kim at kivers@southboroughma.com to register.
  • Ice Cream Social Food Drive (4:00 – 6:00 pm) @ 12 Tara Road: Malissa Jean-Charles Realty Group is hosting this ice cream social to raise funds and collect donations for the Southborough Free Fridge. For details, see Facebook event.
  • Therapy Dog (5:00 – 6:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Destress and relax by spending some time with Julie and glory, a pet partners certified therapy dog. For adults, teens, and kids.
  • Sachem Haunted Coffee House (7:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School’s Black Box Theater: (This isn’t a haunted house!) The fundraiser for Sachem (ARHS’s literary & art magazine) features a variety of acts by Algonquin students – singing, poetry, improv, and monologues. $1 off admission for attendees in costume. Coffee and refreshments will be sold.
  • Neary Fun Runs @ Neary School grounds: Spectators can cheer on students (starting 15 minutes before run times). 4th graders run 9:30 – 10:15 am and 5th graders 10:45 – 11:30 am. For details, see Neary newsletter.

  • Drive Thru Flu Clinic (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School: Free vaccine clinic for ages 6 months and older. Preregistration required. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Household Hazardous Waste Day (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Public Works Garage: The annual opportunity for Transfer Station permit holders to rid their houses of hazardous waste (or pay to get rid of TVs/monitors). For details, see dedicated post.
  • Learn to Laser Cut (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Free library event for students in grades 6-12. Learn how to make fall and halloween themed charms, pendants, and key chains and go home with your own creation. Click here to register.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Semi-monthly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
  • Yoga for grieving mothers (4:40 – 6:00 pm) @ Theracopia Therapeautic Wellness Center, 5 Crystal Pond Road: Free yoga, deep meditation and Reiki healing offered to mothers who have lost a child and their families For details, see dedicated post.
