Framingham resident Ian Schimke, 20, was sentenced to 4 to 6 years in state prison for causing a car crash on Southville Road in December 2008 that killed a Framingham teen.
After a drug deal gone bad, Mr. Schimke and two friends got into a car and chased the men they believed had stolen more than a pound of marijuana from their friends, according to a summary of the case by the district attorney’s office.
Hitting speeds of up to 70 mph on the winding Southville Road in Southboro, Mr. Schimke’s 1998 Chevy Lumina chased a 2003 Dodge Intrepid driven by 18-year-old Jamoan James. Mr. Schimke, encouraged by his passenger, Brendon McNeil, forced the Intrepid off the road by bumping it from behind. Mr. James lost control of his car and it slammed into a tree. Mr. James died, one passenger was seriously injured, and two other passengers fled into the woods after the crash.
